Interagency Taskforce on Air Quality in NSW
In May 2016, the EPA established the high level Interagency Taskforce on Air Quality in NSW to consider significant air quality issues across NSW. The Taskforce provides input and advice on air quality management through cross-agency collaboration and support, and will give priority to reducing exposure to particulate matter (PM), which has major impacts on human health.
The Taskforce will develop cross government recommendations and actions to meet national air quality standards, and coordinate communication of government actions to manage significant air quality issues in NSW.
The Interagency Taskforce includes representatives from:
- NSW EPA
- Office of Environment and Heritage
- NSW Health
- Department of Planning and Environment
- NSW Department of Industry - Division of Resources and Energy
- Transport for NSW, and
- Department of Premier and Cabinet.
The Taskforce replaces the Interagency Taskforce on Air Quality in the Hunter, by expanding the remit of the previous taskforce to consider significant air quality issues NSW-wide.
