NSW Forest Agreement for the Upper North East Region

The Upper North East Region extends from approximately Sawtell to west of Guyra and north to the Queensland border.

Comprehensive regional assessments were undertaken in the Upper North East region from 1996 to 1999. Detailed studies of the attributes and values of the forests were conducted. Fauna habitat was mapped, local heritage identified, and the economic status and social make-up of local communities examined. The assessment took into account the impact of changes to the forest industry on the environment, townships, local economies and communities.

The Forest Agreement for the Upper North East Region of NSW was made on 5 March 1999. A printed copy of the agreement can be obtained from Environment Line.
