On 25 August 2017, new legislative arrangements commenced for private native forestry. It should be noted that some references on the EPAs website and any publications may now be outdated. These documents will be progressively updated by the EPA to ensure current legislative arrangements are reflected. More detail about the changes are available.

The Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has developed a series of DVDs and video clips for landholders, contractors and other stakeholders interested in private native forestry (PNF). These resources are intended to provide information that will help protect the environment and forest health during PNF operations.

The resources build on the overwhelming response to the PNF Training Program delivered by TAFE NSW and feedback received from people who attended the numerous PNF training courses held across NSW.

To obtain a copy of the EPA PNF DVD, please email the EPA at info@environment.nsw.gov.au with your details.

Introduction to private native forestry

The introduction to PNF video playlist provides an overview of the legal framework underpinning PNF in NSW, introducing the PNF Code of Practice which sets environmental and operational standards for timber harvesting on private land.

More information on the video clips in the introductory series can be found in Introduction to PNF - Training DVD (PDF 481KB).

Technical series

The technical series video playlist expands on the concepts in the introductory clips with more technical information to help landholders and harvesting contractors apply the PNF Code of Practice.

More information on the video clips in the technical series can be found in PNF Technical info - Training DVD (PDF 461KB).
