Improved systems for household problem wastes

A wide range of potentially harmful products used in households cannot be disposed of in kerbside bins. This ‘problem waste’ includes leftover or unwanted cleaners, paints, pool and garden products and hobby chemicals.

The funding through Waste Less, Recycle More is providing NSW householders with two convenient collection systems to safely and easily dispose of household problem waste:

  • The Community Recycling Centre Fund provides $44.3 million to establish and service a network of permanent drop-off facilities for people to recycle or safely dispose of selected common household problem wastes for free.
  • Household Chemical CleanOut provides $11 million for a partnership program with local councils to support mobile collection services for safe disposal of household chemical products, including household cleaners, pool and hobby chemicals and pesticides.
