Regulatory assurance statement
Each year the EPA Board provides the Minister for the Environment with a regulatory assurance statement. This contains or addressess:
- an assessment of the success of the EPA and the performance of industries that the EPA regulates in reducing risks to human health and degradation of the environment
- whether the level of environmental protection achieved is satisfactory in comparison with other Australian jurisdictions
- the Board’s recommendations for improving the EPA’s performance in regulating these industries.
These requirements align with the EPA’s vision for NSW to have a healthy environment, healthy community and healthy business in the EPA Strategic Plan.
As well as reporting to the Minister for the Environment, the regulatory assurance statement is a report to the community about the EPA’s performance as the primary environmental regulator for NSW. The Statement is tabled in the NSW Parliament and published here on the EPA’s website.
