New milestone and children's charity for Return and Earn
Our baby is turning 4! Return and Earn celebrated its fourth birthday on 1 December by reaching a staggering 6.5 billion containers returned via its network of 620-plus return points since inception in 2017!
And the good news for those returning and earning is that you can now donate your refunds to the Starlight Children’s Foundation, with the launch of their Containers for Kids Appeal. Until April 2022, recyclers in NSW will be able to donate their 10c refund by selecting Starlight Children’s Foundation on any Return and Earn machine.
“With summer upon us, and all NSW return points now fully operational following COVID-19 restrictions being lifted, we’re seeing a surge in the number of drink containers being returned for recycling,” Andrew Ware, Program and Operations Leader – Container Deposit Scheme said.
“The pandemic has meant hospital visitations are heavily restricted, making life even tougher for sick kids. Funds raised through the Container for Kids Appeal will help Starlight deliver its in-hospital services, including Captain Starlight and the Starlight Express Rooms across NSW children’s hospitals,” Andrew added.
The appeal, launched jointly with TOMRA and Cleanaway, aims to raise $250,000 for the Starlight Children’s Foundation by 3 April 2022. Find your closest Return and Earn machine here.
