The independent review of the NSW Resource Recovery Framework was delivered by Dr Cathy Wilkinson in September 2022. The EPA supported all 22 recommendations that came from this review. In July 2023 the EPA released the Towards a Circular Economy (TaCE) delivery plan. The plan was developed through stakeholder feedback and commits the EPA to work towards delivering the 22 recommendations.
The Towards a Circular Economy delivery project is being managed by the EPA’s Programs and Innovation Division. Work has already started, and projects are on track according to the delivery plan. The EPA’s online portal eConnect has also been updated to include the management of resource recovery orders and exemptions.
The EPA is planning to consult with external stakeholders over the next few months on some of the actions. This includes the publishing of new or updated guidance material for orders and exemptions (Action A1) and development of an innovation pathway (Action D3).
