The announcement was made by NSW Environment Minister Gabrielle Upton at Coogee Beach on 29 July while inspecting one of the new collection machines. More than 500 collection points will be rolled out across NSW. This includes up to 180 reverse vending machines that will be positioned at, or near, Woolworths supermarkets by 1 December.
A joint venture of five beverage companies Exchange for Change, will act as Scheme Coordinator and TOMRA Cleanaway, an international leader in reverse vending machine technology, was announced as the Network Operator.
We also recently launched a social media campaign on Return and Earn. The campaign depicts everyday Australians and their commitment to recycling and sustainability and is on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. You can share your recycling story by posting a photo with the hashtag #doingmybit or by searching and liking NSW GOV CDS.
