The fees listed below have been calculated for 2024-25 financial year as prescribed in Schedule 4 of the Protection from Harmful Radiation Regulation 2013.
Applicants can calculate fees by using the tables below. Management licence fees comprise
- the appropriate application fee (if applicable)
- the management licence fee, based on the duration of the licence - (one year) to possess, store, sell and give away or (1 or 3 years) to sell only
- the applicable regulated material fee groups based on the type and purpose of the apparatus, sealed source devices and substances. Use Table 2 to assess which regulated material group(s) is applicable to you and to calculate the appropriate fees (or refer to clause 14 of the Regulation).
Notes
- A simple application/variation is where all the required information is supplied to the EPA and the applicant has met all the relevant criteria for the licence sought.
- Applications sent to the Radiation Advisory Council (RAC) are usually those which are non-standard (i.e. complex). This is usually where applicants may not have met the necessary requirements. More information on licensing requirements can be found on the Radiation management licence requirements page. If you believe your application may be non-standard, you should contact the EPA at dgrp.licensing@epa.nsw.gov.au or on (02) 9995 5959 before submitting your application.
- Please note a credit card payment fee of 0.4 per cent applies.

Variation of licence fee | or | Variation of licence fee if application has to be referred to the Radiation Advisory Council (RAC) |
---|---|---|
$132 | $395 |
Non-Standard (complex) application fees - When an application is referred to the Radiation Advisory Council an additional fee of $263 applies (refer to Notes 2)
Fees apply only to additions to the management licence of ionising radiation apparatus, sealed source devices and radioactive substances ('regulated material') or a change to a condition on the licence at the licensee's request. Variations to a management licence must be submitted using eConnect EPA.
Changes deemed to be minor variations to the licence do not attract a fee and include:
- changes to address details
- changes to contact details
- removing regulated material from the licence.
Minor variations must be submitted using eConnect EPA.
Radiation management licence fees to sell only (1 or 3 years)
Table 1D: Management licence to sell only (for companies that sell regulated material only) - new licence application
Management licence application fee (sell only) | |
---|---|
1 year | 3 years |
$348 | $780 |
Renewal radiation management licence to sell only fees (1 or 3 years)

Renewal fee for one 1 year | Renewal fee for 3 years |
---|---|
$216 | $648 |
Applications sent to the Radiation Advisory Council (RAC) are where the EPA sends non-standard (complex) applications to the Radiation Advisory Council for its advice which incurs a higher fee. See Note 2 for more details.
Variation to a radiation management licence to sell only fees (1 or 3 years)

Non-Standard (complex) application fees - When an application is referred to the Radiation Advisory Council an additional fee of $263 applies (refer to Notes 2).
Fees apply only to additions to the management licence of ionising radiation apparatus, sealed source devices and radioactive substances ('regulated material') or a change to a condition on the licence at the licensee's request. Variations to a management licence must be submitted using eConnect EPA.
Minor variations to the licence do not attract a fee and include:
- changes to address details
- changes to contact details
- removing regulated material from the licence
Minor variations must be submitted using eConnect EPA.
