Education resources
The EPA's research on illegal dumping showed that most people know illegal dumping is wrong. They know it is socially unacceptable, however most people don’t think they will get caught.
Using this research the EPA developed a suite of Report Illegal Dumping (RID) branding that asks members of the community to report dumpers and warn dumpers they are likely to be caught. The RID branding can be freely used by organisations working to prevent illegal dumping. The suite includes a style guide, signage, banners, investigation tape and more.
Report illegal dumping resources
Report illegal dumping (RID) resources are visual signals that:
- request members of the community to report dumpers
- warn dumpers they are likely to be caught.
Pre-made artwork is available or you can use the RID style guide (PDF 3.2MB) to develop your own campaign materials that have the look, feel and impact of the RID campaign.
For access to the full suite of resources:
- email [email protected] to receive a login and password
- log in to the RID artwork site.
Before publication, please send all artwork to [email protected] for EPA approval.

Illegal dumping at charities resources
The EPA has developed a range of education materials to remind people to donate responsibly. NSW charitable recyclers spend millions of dollars annually disposing of donations dumped outside their doors and collection bins. The education materials (posters, social media tiles, infographic and stickers) are available to remind householders how to donate responsibly and the impacts of not doing so.
These materials can be freely used and shared by individuals or organisations working to prevent illegal dumping around charities.

Sticker signage
The EPA has developed sticker signage for registered NSW charities to install outside shopfronts and on recycling donation bins to discourage donators from leaving goods on the footpath or by the bin if it is full.
The campaign's messages are aimed at people who want to help, and dump material around charity donation bins and shopfronts. These people do not realise the burden they place on charities.
Other individuals and organisations who have similar problems can also use the stickers.
There are 7 sticker messages. Stickers are printed on fluorescent colour vinyl and are outdoor-weather proof. No more than 3 messages should be displayed at the same time.
Registered NSW charitable recyclers can request signage by emailing [email protected].
