EPA continues investigation of the Hazelbrook Creek Crayfish Kill
04 September 2023
The NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) is continuing its investigation into a major crayfish kill in a tributary of Hazelbrook Creek on Wednesday 23 August 2023.
EPA officers visited the site on August 23 and collected water and crayfish samples for testing.
While results from those tests are yet to be finalised, the EPA has narrowed its investigation to the immediate vicinity of the Horseshoe Falls catchment and believe the impact on crayfish may have been caused by insecticide pollution.
The EPA’s investigation will consider all potential residential and community sources of pollution.
